Wave energy: Resource assessment and technology

The USC hosted a free 3-day training course on Marine Renewable Energies, specifically on wave energy, in the framework of the PORTOS project (Work Package 3 – Action 5). This renewable energy is of great interest for the Galician coast. The course consisted of a combination of theoretical sessions and hands-on workshops. The attendees had the opportunity to expand their knowledge on the fundamentals of wave energy and the technologies that harvest this resource as well as its numerical and physical modelling.

This course also highlighted the important role that ports play in the global economy, and how energetically demanding and pollutant these infrastructures can be. However, both of these issues can be tackled through a common approach: energy self-sufficiency through the untapped marine renewable resources that ports hold.
