PORTOS – Ports Towards
Implements wave, tidal and wind energy, at Atlantic Area ports, as to impact two environmental priorities: reduction of greenhouse gases emissions and air pollution by providing renewable energy-based solutions to harvest the renewable energy potential of Atlantic Area coastal areas.
A COMMON CHALLENGE
Taking care of our environment
PORTOS deals with the common challenge of the Atlantic Area related to the pressure that industry, economy and society are exerting on the environment while having an abundance of natural resources. In this context, it is focused on the problem faced by ports, which are a source of air pollution and have a high-energy demand while the renewable energy resources available on-site

Wave energy
The capture of energy of wind waves to do useful work

Tidal energy
The form of hydropower that converts energy obtained from tides into useful power

Solar energy
Radiant light and heat from the sun that is harnessed using solar panels

Wind energy
Wind farms constructed in the ocean to harvest energy and generate electricity
