About this Work Package
This work package establishes the communication strategy that will be implemented during the project’s lifetime. This strategy serves a list of purposes, such as to update the PORTOS’ stakeholders on the project’s outputs, to encourage fruitful debate between all stakeholders, to facilitate the development and dissemination of a roadmap towards energy self-sufficiency and to inform society about the benefits of harnessing renewable energy in ports and the role of the Atlantic Area programme and the PORTOS project in this matter.
This communication framework encompasses several target groups, these being the port system, big, small and medium enterprises, local communities, public administrations, governmental agencies, universities, research centres and scientific organizations
Actions in Work Package 2
Action 1: Thematic seminars with stakeholders

End date: 03/2022
This action involves the organization of five thematic seminars at different Atlantic Area countries, to inform stakeholders and end users about the PORTOS’ outputs. These events are aimed at the port system, a wide variety of enterprises, public administrations, governmental agencies, universities, research centres and the general public.
Action 2: PORTOS virtual community and Social Media plan

This action regards the different aspects of the PORTOS project virtual community and social media plan. The management of this website is a prime example of one of the tasks included in this action. The PORTOS project has a Facebook and Twitter account. Follow them to keep updated!
Action 3: OpenPorts exhibitions at case-study ports on Marine Renewable Energies and Sustainability

An OpenPort is a two-day exhibition, hosted by any of the project´s three target ports (Port of Leixões, Port of Vigo and Shannon Foynes Port) where marine renewable energy and port sustainability promoted. Three Open Ports, one per port, are held every project year, where local communities are told about the advantages of renewable energies at ports through didactive activities, talks from the academia and industry and informative stands. These events are announced and documented in this website.
Action 4: Scientific and technical dissemination of international conferences and business fairs

Some outputs of PORTOS have significant relevance on an international level. To ensure the diffusion of the advances in the scope of PORTOS, three tasks are included in this action. These are the participation of the partnership’s researchers in international conferences and technical or industrial fairs, the publication of the project’s results in open-access journals and the publication of the Roadmap and Guidelines towards energy self-sufficiency.
Action 5: OpenLabs exhibitions at Universities and R&D Institutions

An OpenLab is an event where universities or research centres (University of Porto, University of Santiago de Compostela, IHCantabria, University of Oviedo, EIGSI, University of Plymouth and MaREI) open their doors to the local communities for a day, to inform society about the benefits of harnessing renewable energy and sustainability in ports and the role of the Atlantic Area programme and the PORTOS project in this matter. These events are announced and documented in this website.
